Maris is a local Chrome extension for discovering public PDFs, identifying detectable accessibility barriers, and organizing remediation work.

Data Maris accesses

Maris requests access to a website origin only after the user starts a scan and approves Chrome's permission prompt. It reads public HTML pages inside the entered path boundary and public PDFs linked from those pages. It does not bypass robots.txt, authentication, rate limits, or access controls.

Data Maris stores

The latest scan results are stored in Chrome extension storage on the user's device so they can be restored. Results may contain URLs, extracted PDF metadata, structural counts, accessibility criterion findings, document-family signals, and remediation recommendations.

PDF file contents are held in memory during analysis and are not retained by Maris. Stored results can be removed by removing the extension or clearing the extension's site data in Chrome.

Data sharing

Maris does not transmit scan data to the developer or to a third-party analysis service. Maris has no developer-operated server, account system, analytics service, advertising service, OpenAI connection, or paid API. Ordinary web requests are still sent by Chrome to the public websites and PDF hosts selected by the user.

Remote code

Maris does not use remote executable code. The JavaScript required by the extension, including PDF.js, is bundled with the extension package. Public web pages and PDF documents are retrieved only as content for discovery and accessibility analysis.

Scope

Maris provides accessibility decision support. It does not certify WCAG, PDF/UA, Section 508, ADA, or legal conformance.
